Boston, MA – With gay wedding bells beginning to ring for the 2006 season, two pioneering companies, which specialize in gay weddings, It’s About Time and GayWeddings.com, are offering a fun and informative seminar, designed to help couples tackle tough decisions about beginning the wedding planning process.

“I’m often approached by acquaintances of mine who are thinking about getting married, and ask questions like ‘who proposes to whom?’ and ‘what’s a gay engagement ring like?’ says Bernadette Smith of It’s About Time, the first gay wedding planning firm in Massachusetts, which has coordinated more than twenty weddings since its founding in 2004.

“We get similar questions through our online boutiques for same sex weddings, and even find ourselves answering more broad questions like ‘Where do we even begin?’ says Kathryn Hamm, CEO of Themis, Inc., which owns a network of gay wedding sites including GayWeddings.com, GayWeddingFodder.com, TwoBrides.com and TwoGrooms.com.

“This first-of-its-kind seminar is going to answer the questions we are often asked and will give couples greater peace of mind as they start to plan their weddings,” says Smith.

The introductory seminar will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at The College Club of Boston, located at 44 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston’s Back Bay. It is open to all same sex couples who pre-register and who are considering marriage or a commitment ceremony. To secure a spot in this ground-breaking seminar, couples should contact It’s About Time by January 20, 2006 at info@itsabouttimeweddings.com or 617-733-2965. There is no charge to attend, but the seminar is limited to 10 couples.

Additionally, The Emily Post Institute has donated a copy of the fifth edition of Emily Post’s Wedding Etiquette, which includes a chapter on same sex unions. This book, authored by Peggy Post, great-granddaughter-in-law of the legendary etiquette expert Emily Post, and wedding etiquette expert for InStyle Weddings, will be raffled off to one of the couples who attend the seminar.

“A seminar such as this certainly would have opened my eyes to the journey ahead,” says Jessica Lockwood, a bride-to-be planning her own June 3 wedding. “It’s been difficult even defining a guest list and timelines.”
