November 5, 2014 - "The First Inaugural Address of President Abraham Lincoln: A Rhetorical Analysis in The Art of Persuasion," a new book by Joseph John M. Alexander, has been released by Red Lead Books.

One of the truly great men of all times was Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States of America – 1861–1865. During the Civil War era he labored tirelessly to preserve the American Union, exhibiting proof to the world that democracy can be a viable form of government. At the time he ascended to the Presidency of the United States of America, little was known of Lincoln. His First Inaugural Address is a classic example and statement of his democratic beliefs and goals that set the dynamic and persuasive tone and vibrant style of his leadership as President of the United States of America and as the first President the Republican Party chose to elect. There was nothing in his past that alluded to his ability to successfully address the greatest crisis in American history.

Lincoln's insightful leadership in the North during the Civil War changed the course of world history. Rising from a humble beginning to the nation's highest and most prestigious office, Lincoln's personal life story is proof of the power of democracy.
