Singapore Author Publishes Powerful Autobiography about Abandoning Fear

"From Fear to Freedom," a new book by Rilly Ray Rajkumar, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

Journey through Dr. Rilly Ray Rajkumar's autobiographical account of the life of a young woman named Rilly, born in Darjeeling, India, and raised in a Bengali home during the 1940s. She watched her mother, a previously docile, fearful woman, overcome her fear, convincing her husband that their family needed to migrate to Malaya for the sake of their children.

This work tells of Rilly's persistence and dedication in pursing an education and becoming a medical doctor like her father, all the while fighting against the suppression of women, cultural traditions such as arranged marriages, and for the freedom of religious choice. And, like mother, like daughter, Rilly must move to Singapore to stand for her beliefs.

About the Author:
Born in India, Rilly Ray is now a resident and citizen of Singapore, where she received her medical degree and post-graduate degree in Public Health from Singapore University, as well as another post-graduate degree in Palliative Medicine.

Since 1965, she has worked in a Singapore hospital as a full-time doctor. Her job has allowed her to travel across the globe to Southeast Asian countries, Japan, and Los Angeles, CA.

The widow of a Sri Lankan-Singaporean lawyer, who was a loving husband and father, she currently lives alone, as their three grown children are married and living in the United States.
