"Espionage and the United States During the 20th Century," a new book by Lt. Colonel Thomas H. Murray, PhD, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

Army Veteran Lt. Colonel Murray's new book explores his knowledge of a potential threat that is ever-present when it comes to our country's national safety: espionage. In the book, Murray discusses his belief that espionage not only continues to occur, but continues at a rate that is greater than that which we have experienced in the past. While counterintelligence has continued to improve, Murray argues that the United States has been unable to eliminate the threat because the nations that oppose us have also increased and improved their intelligence against us. The war veteran expresses doubts about our country's patriotic motivation to help counterintelligence in stopping espionage. To prepare readers for the journey that they will embark upon while reading "Espionage and the United States During the 20th Century," eighty-six-year-old Murray leaves us with Wendell Phillips' famous statement: "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty."
