February 20, 2015 - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, February 20, 2015 - The Executive Committee of the Robert M. Clinger III Invitational Golf Tournament released the results of the 9th annual tournament contested on Monday, February 16, 2015 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This year's Invitational featured a smaller field as a result of unfavorable weather conditions. Despite a high temperature of only 39 degrees and increasing winds, fifty-nine invitees braved the weather in search of victory and the Obelisk of Victory. This year's event once again featured an international field with players from the United States, Canada, and Denmark and was the first event to have a former PGA Tour winner, Sam Adams (1973 Quad Cities Open), in the field.

The Obelisk of Victory was awarded to the winning team consisting of Chris Abraham, Rich Abraham, Rich O'Brien, and Patrick O'Brien. The victors posted a score of 68, four under par. The second place team consisted of Tommy Brittain, Erick Ficken, Alex Chestnut, and Jerry Baird and finished one under par. The third place team, finishing at even par, consisted of Sam Adams, Lee Gremillion, John Stacy, and Chuck Fitch.

As a result of the inclement weather conditions for the second year in a row, a growing number of participants continued to lobby for the tournament to be moved to a later date for future years. The Executive Committee agreed to take this matter under advisement for the comfort and enjoyment of the players and the future success of the tournament.

Robert M. Clinger III, founder of the tournament, made the following comments at the conclusion of the event:

"This has been another tremendously successful tournament thanks to the hard work of the Dunes Club staff, our head professional Dennis Nicholl, and the players, all those brave souls who toughed it out today. I want to extend my personal thanks and gratitude to the staff and all the players and their guests. We have some new faces at this event, and I hope they'll come back and join us in the future. I also want to thank Sam Adams for being here today. It's an honor to have a PGA Tour winner join us for this event.

This event wasn't easy to pull off this year. We had the weather really working against us with the cold these last few days. The numbers were up and down, and we had to redo a lot of teams at the last minute. But thankfully, it all came together in the end.

I have to say that this was probably the second worst weather we've had for this tournament. To say it was cold is a bit of an understatement. I hear the calls for this event to be moved to warmer weather. Believe me, I'd love it to be fair weather for us for a change, but as I said last year, the weather is part of what makes this tournament what it is. This is a tough course, the format is tough, and the weather sort of tops it all off. I think most of the players have come to expect that. I like to remind people that no matter how bad the weather was for us, our weather here probably represents a nice day in Scotland. I don't think Scots had the benefit of ideal weather when they made this game. I think the weather really lends the feel of The Open Championship to this event.

I'm looking forward to our tenth anniversary next year. I hope everyone here will join us again next year to commemorate the milestone in this tournament's history. It's going to be the biggest event we've had to date. We'll reset the tournament countdown clock and see everyone all again soon."

Photographs from the tournament are currently being added to the Invitational's website, www.ClingerInvitational.com.

The 10th Annual Robert M. Clinger III Invitational will be contested on February 15, 2016 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
