March 12, 2015 - Align Technology, Inc. recently announced that Sirona's CEREC Omnicam will soon be supported for Invisalign(R) case submissions.

As a result of this collaboration between the two digital dentistry giants, orthodontic records will be able to be sent to Align digitally. Digital scans will be captured with a CEREC Omnicam intraoral camera and the new CEREC Ortho Software 1.1, instead of a traditional impression techniques. This new CEREC Ortho software is expected to be rolled out in the summer of 2015.

DS Dental Studio in London is at the forefront of providing Align's Invisalign braces and is a Platinum rated provider by Align. The Studio was also one of the first dental clinics in the world to adopt the use of Cerec Omnicam scanners.

The Director of DS Dental Studio, Dr Demir Sayiner said: 'We are very much looking forward to combining our expertise in Align Technology's Invisalign® system and the use of Sirona's Cerec Omnicam for the benefit of our patients, and the ease with which they will be able to access digital cosmetic dentistry in London.'

Sayiner continued 'The incredibly precise and accurate 3d images Cerec Omnicam speedily captures has benefited many of our patients when having treatments such as same day crowns, same day veneers. This removed the need for uncomfortable impressions for our discerning clientele. We have also perfected many smiles using Invisalign in London. Our team are very excited to bring their skills in both these technologies together for improved patient care. Digitising our orthodontic records will also help to improve our environmental targets, as we will use less materials for record taking and will not have to ship these physically between the United Kingdom and USA."

DS Dental Studio expects to be one of the first centres in the world to provide cosmetic dental treatments in using this new digital workflow.
