April 8, 2015 - The Adventure Park at Long Island-the first aerial forest park on Long Island-will inaugurate its second season when it reopens on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 3:00 PM. It will continue operating on its spring schedule of Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until June 25 when it will be open seven days a week for its summer schedule.

Long Islanders immediately took to its zip lines and treetop challenge courses last summer when The Adventure Park made its debut. Kids, teens, adults and groups seeking healthy outdoor recreation and thrills didn't take long to make a beeline for the forest venue as the word spread. Even Theresa Caputo, of "Long Island Medium" TV fame, found herself climbing and zip lining through the treetops at The Adventure Park. Her climb was documented in the show's season premiere this past March.

New for the 2015 season is the addition of two more "aerial trails" to its previous eight for a total of 10 aerial trails to choose from this year. This will increase the capacity of the park considerably for those who are new to climbing.

The Adventure Park's 10 aerial trails consist of about 135 platforms and elements installed in the trees and connected by various configurations of cable, wood and rope to form "crossings" of different kinds including 16 of the ever-popular zip lines. Climbers wear harnesses which are doubly secured to safety cables using the Park's own "always locked on" climbing system of interlocking carabineers (coupling links). Before venturing onto the trails climbers receive a thorough orientation. Trails are designed for self-discovery, making lessons unnecessary. Park Guides are always available for questions or assistance.

The aerial trails at The Adventure Park are color-coded and offer suitable challenge levels from age seven through adult. The most advanced trail (double black diamond) is suitable for teens and adults who are experienced climbers. Otherwise there are nine other trails of intermediate challenge levels to choose from. In short, there is something for just about everyone who wants to climb and zip through the trees at The Adventure Park.

For those who choose not to climb but want to share the experience with friends or family who are climbing, The Adventure Park offers beautiful forest paths and picnic tables. Admission for non-climbers is free of charge.
