Louisville Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Stacie Grossfeld Appointed to Board of Directors for YMCA at Norton Commons

June 6, 2015 - Louisville orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine doctor Stacie Grossfeld MD has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the YMCA at Norton Commons' in Louisville, Kentucky. While serving on the board, Dr. Grossfeld is excited to support the YMCA's mission of building healthy and strong children, families and communities.

Dr. Grossfeld, a practicing physician at Orthopaedic Specialists in Louisville, Kentucky, also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Louisville (U of L) in the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and a team doctor to various Louisville-area sports programs including South Oldham County High School, the Louisville Ballet, Assumption High School, and Spalding University.

In addition to her new seat on the YMCA Board of Directors, Dr. Grossfeld also serves as a board member of the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC). In recent years she has been an integral part of the LSC's Health and Wellness Committee.

Dr. Grossfeld's interest in and commitment to health and wellness is evident in all aspects of her life. Most recently she started a special program for her patients which includes an increased focus on healthy weight loss and physical activity as a way to reduce pain and improve health. As part of Orthopaedic Specialists' physical activity program, interested patients are eligible to receive a two week free membership to the YMCA plus a free one hour coaching session to get started.

Dr. Grossfeld graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and is double board certified in orthopedic medicine and sports medicine. She completed an internship and residency at the University of Minnesota along with a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Fowler- Kennedy Sports Medicine Center.

Over the years, Dr. Grossfeld has been recognized with numerous awards for her dedication as a leading orthopedic physician. She is a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS), is ranked in the top 10 orthopedic physicians in Louisville, Kentucky, and received the Vitals Most Compassionate Doctor Award in 2013.

When she is not practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, playing USTA tennis, cycling, and working out at the Louisville YMCA at Norton Commons where she participates in regular spin classes.

The YMCA of Greater Louisville was founded in 1853 as the 10th YMCA in the United States. Now with more than a dozen branch locations in Greater Louisville, the organization is the biggest provider of before and after school care in the state of Kentucky and serves as the national headquarters for the Safe Place Services.
