Blue Man Group Presents The Second Annual Boston Drum-Off As Part Of The 2015 Boston Summer Arts Weekend

July 2, 2015 - BOSTON, MA – Blue Man Group is seeking the most creative, most innovative, most insanely talented drummers in the Greater Boston area for the second annual Boston Drum-Off, presented by Blue Man Group as part of the 2015 Boston Summer Arts Weekend on Saturday, July 25 at 6pm. The winner will receive over $6,000 in prizes from Blue Man Group, DW Drums, Sabian, Vic Firth and AT&T.

Interested drummers are required to film a 1-2 minute solo jam session on a standard drum set, then upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo. Then, visit www.BlueMan.com/BostonDrumOff to fill out the entry submission form by midnight Tuesday, July 14, 2015.

The Blue Man Group Drum-Off judging panel will consist of Blue Man Group musicians and industry professionals, including Michael Marotta, Co-Founder of Vanyaland, the Boston-based online music magazine, alternative radio station, and lifestyle brand. The committee will select and notify semi-finalists by Friday, July 17. Each semi-finalist will be invited to perform a live 3-minute session on Saturday, July 18 from 11:00am – 2:00 pm at the AT&T Store (699 Boylston Street, Boston).

The five selected finalists will each perform a 2-minute session in front of a roaring crowd on the Main Stage at Boston Summer Arts Weekend in Copley Square on Saturday, July 25 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The judges and the audience will determine the Grand Prize Winner of the Blue Man Group Boston Drum-Off. The winner will take home a new DW Drum Set, along with accessories from Sabian and Vic Firth. The prize package, which also includes contributions from Blue Man Group and AT&T, is worth over $6,000.

Drummers will be assessed on the following criteria – creativity, technical ability and musicality.
