Klok, A World Time Conversion iOS App, Launched by buUuk

July 9, 2015 - Singapore - Klok is a world time converter making modern, global lives simpler.

Once installed, it sits in the Today view (accessed by swiping down from the top of your screen), for quick access without needing to unlock your iPhone or close the app you're in. By tapping on a clock, you can then shift a dial to figure out the perfect time to link up that work check-in, family call or friendly chat across multiple timezones.

The app began in response to buUuk's Head of Design Navjot Pawera's need to make the expat life a little easier. "My brother lives in San Francisco, my parents are in India, I have friends in Norway (I used to live there), my wife's family lives near London, and I live in Singapore," he says. "It's always really hard to schedule a time to chat that works for everyone."

Simple, powerful time conversion
The widget accommodates up to five different cities across the world, and offers the choice between analogue and digital view.

The colour of the clock face changes to show a good time for each timezone. A light clock face means its between the hours of 7am and 7pm (a good time to contact) and a dark face is between 7pm and 7am (not working hours so maybe not a good time to contact).

With an Apple Watch companion app already in development, Klok has been designed to be at your fingertips whenever you might need it.

Living a global existence
Mark Law, the lead designer for Klok, says, "Singapore is the city of expats." In fact, the BBC reported that out of Singapore's population of 5.6 million, 1.32 million are foreign workers. And if they're not expats, then they're travellers: across the Pacific, Apple's 2015 WWDC conference, attracted attendees from 70 countries, while viewers log into the live stream from across the globe.

Globalisation has changed the workplace forever too. As Sean Kim writes on FastCompany, "many of the greatest companies in the 21st century, including Virgin, 37signals, and IBM have built successful businesses providing people the freedom to work where they want, when they want, and how they want."

Klok makes living a global existence easier.

Klok was silently launched on Friday 3rd July. It has been featured globally by Apple under various categories - Best New Apps, Utilities and Business.
