Goleta, California, July 14, 2015 – On its 10th year the Annual Blow The Motor Night will be offering a fun experience for the entire family, blasting air bags and hoods right off of donated cars to raise funds to support students who dream of a career in the automotive industry. This long-standing event that happens only once every year has been hosted by the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Independent Automotive Professionals Association and will be happening at the Elks Lodge on July 15, 2015.

The Annual Blow the Motor Scholarship FUNdraiser can be enjoyed by the entire family and includes a tri-tip dinner. Participants place friendly bets on the winning second – the number of seconds it will take for each vehicle to finally explode. Barbeque starts at 6pm, and blowing-up and raffle begins from 6:30pm until all the engines blow.

The Automotive Repair Industry encourages seasoned repair technicians to invest time and effort in aspiring young techs through mentoring and hands-on training. This is one way of showing the youth that there are very real opportunities for success in the future through the auto maintenance field. And to further support the educational needs of these students, the IAPA started Blow the Motor Night – the only major FUNdraiser organized once every year.

"This is our 10th year blowing up those engines", says Nikki of Ayers Automotive Repairs, a member of the IAPA that takes in apprentice automotive technicians. "It's all about blowing up engines, meeting old friends and helping the future generation get an education", she adds.

At the annual Scholarship Awards Dinner of the IAPA held last April 2015, the trade association awarded an all time high of $5,000 to qualified students from San Marcos High School, Santa Barbara City College, and new this year, Santa Ynez High School. The scholars are enrolled in the different levels of Auto Technician programs. And the money raised in the upcoming IAPA Annual Blow the Motor Scholarship FUNdraiser goes toward the scholarship of these hardworking and deserving students.
