Advanced Metering Installation Is Complete In Russellville Wireless Water Meter Reading Improves Efficiency

November 13, 2015 - Russellville, AR – Utility Metering Solutions (UMS) and City Corporation announce the completion of the largest cellular Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Program in Arkansas. This means that reading water meters is now wireless in Russellville, AR and customers will have online access to consumption information via their Eye On Water application.

This innovative technology has replaced monthly manual meter reads with a wireless AMI system that collects multiple reads per day, allowing for better leak detection, increased billing efficiency and improved customer service. During the six-month field deployment, Utility Metering Solutions upgraded more than 12,500 residential, commercial, and industrial water meters with Badger Beacon cellular technology.

"Our customers are already experiencing the benefits of the cutting-edge technology," said Steve Mallett, General Manager. "With more frequent meter readings, text alerts, and near real-time usage information, we can now help customers save thousands of gallons of water a year and help identify otherwise unknown leaks."

Additionally, Eye on Water, Badger Meter Company's secure customer engagement portal is expected to roll out to all customers by November 19, 2015. City Corporation customers will simply need their utility account number and zip code to create a secure account. Eye on Water will allow City Corporation customers to view their consumption information, usage trends and sign up for custom alerts and notifications. Eye on Water will be available via the web, iPhone, and Android applications.
