November 24, 2015 - "The Hidden Truth," a new book by Dr. Jahan Shahsawar, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

"The Hidden Truth: The Unspoken Realities About the War in Afghanistan" is an enlightening work based on the real life experiences of Dr. Jahan Shahsawar. "The Hidden Truth" is about his 14-month deployment as a civilian contractor, acting as a cultural advisor/interpreter with the US Army in Afghanistan. His position gave him a unique and startling insight about the realities of American involvement in Afghanistan.

Starting with the golden era of the 1960s, Dr. Shahsawar brings the voice of innocent Afghans to the attention of international human rights organization. During his deployment he interviewed former Taliban war commanders and learned from Afghan National Army generals about American Army success against terrorists. Other stories document the truth behind America's real enemies and the dishonesty of the Afghan government. The realities about the victories in the war on terror in Afghanistan have never been revealed… until now.

About the Author: Born in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the eldest of four, Dr. Shahsawar lost his father at the young age of 10, and was working to support his family at 14. Quickly finding education to be the key to a better future, he earned a spot in the Veterinarian Boarding School Institute, graduating as Valedictorian. He received a scholarship to the University of Tehran and, by age 20, was working for the King of Afghanistan Zahir Shah. During this time, he also received a certificate in Islamic Studies from the University of Tehran and continued on, earning a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine in 1982.

Living in Iran during the revolution, political issues were a large part of his decision to move his family to France where, in 1986, he received a second Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Toulouse, France. In July of 1987, he made the life-changing decision to move his family to the United States. After 9/11, Dr. Shahsawar felt compelled to get involved with the War in Afghanistan, and because of his familiarity with the country and his ability to speak English, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, French, and Urdu, he deployed with the US Army in 2012 as a civilian contractor. Today he is a proud father, grandfather, and husband living in Virginia, and is still an advocate of education, reading daily and writing often.

"The Hidden Truth" is a 228-page hardcover with a retail price of $24.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4809-1281-6. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
