The Women’s Sexual Health Foundation Names New Board Member Dr. Hilda Hutcherson Joins Professional Advisory Board

The Women’s Sexual Health Foundation (TWSHF) has named Dr. Hilda Hutcherson as the newest member of its Professional Advisory Board. As a nationally recognized gynecologist, author and professor, Dr. Hutcherson’s expertise on women’s sexual health is expected to contribute to the Foundation’s efforts to provide information on the latest research, treatments and care regarding women’s sexual health issues.

“The primary goal of our organization is to serve as an educational resource for both the lay public and healthcare professionals,” said Lisa Martinez, RN/JD, Executive Director of The Women’s Sexual Health Foundation. “We feel the addition of an expert in women’s sexual health such as Dr. Hutcherson to our team is essential in accomplishing that goal.”

In addition to her new Advisory Board position, Hutcherson’s involvement with TWSHF includes her role as a guest speaker at the Foundation’s and Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons annual Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) and Health Symposium on April 22 in New York City. She also serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center. Her involvement in the field of gynecology has included various leadership positions to promote the education of those pursuing careers as gynecologists at Columbia University, such as the Co-director for the New York Center for Women’s Sexual Health and Associate Dean for Diversity and Minority Affairs. Hutcherson has also authored several books dealing with women’s sexual health issues which include Having Your Baby, Pleasure: A Woman’s Guide to Getting the Sex You Want, Need, and Deserve and What Your Mother Never Told You About Sex. She is also a regular contributor to Essence and has been featured in a variety of other popular media including “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Cosmopolitan, Ebony, Fitness, and Health.
