"We are very proud to have ConsuNova as part of the AdaPilot initiative. ConsuNova will lead the CERT team providing guidance and assistance to the Dev Core Team in meeting AdaPilot´s software verification and certification goal of DO-178C compliance with Design Assurance Level B objectives.", said Jarno Puff, AdaPilot´s project advocate. ConsuNova will provide to AdaPilot´s Dev Core Team a wide range of solutions including:

  • DO-178C & DO-254 Trainings
  • System Safety Analysis Engineering, Training & Consulting
  • Gap Analysis & Strategic Compliance Planning
  • DO-178C & DO-254 Process Templates & Checklists (complyGEAR)
  • Systems & Software Engineering Support

  • Reza Madjidi, President of ConsuNova explains: "The software, that controls and monitors unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones that fly in commercial air space, both on the ground and in the air must be verified to ensure device safety and reliability and should be developed to the same exacting DO-178B/C standards as software for manned aircraft types. DO-178 "Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification" imposes strict dynamic coverage analysis requirements. For example the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has proposed a regulatory framework based on associated risk, where drones at the highest risk level will need to be certified: their airworthiness will need to be demonstrated in the same way as is done for manned aircraft."

AdaPilot, started in 2016, is a next-generation Open-Source software project initiative created by the AdaPilot Community. It has been designed from the ground up by a community of passionate Ada and ARM developers from around the globe, with its core design principles being quality, safety, and ease of use. It is aimed at providing a DO-178C certifiable safety critical flight control system composed of a single or redundant flight control computer with basic autopilot features, an attitude & heading reference system, a modular & customizable mission controller, a secure data-link, a electronic speed controller, a handheld ground control station and a mission management & planning software.
