Anacortes, Washington, January 23, 2006 – Carlo Magno announced today that Freedom Roads (Chicago, Ill.) and Foley RV (Burlington, Wash.) have joined forces as corporate sponsors of The Spirit of Hope Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation based in Anacortes, Washington. As sponsors, the RV companies have generously donated the use of a fully-equipped, handicapped drivable and accessible motor home for use as a “chase van” and living quarters during the MS Express, Magno’s trek, from Seattle to New York City in his antique, electric wheelchair “Blu.”

Leaving from Seattle’s Safeco Field in early June 2006, Magno and his three-legged assistance dog Katie will travel 4,300 miles along the northern United States, making keynote stops in cities along the route including Spokane, Washington; Missoula, Montana; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Cherry Hill, New Jersey; and Washington, D.C. Magno’s trip will end at Yankee Stadium in New York City. The goal of the MS Express is to raise awareness for handicapped accessibility issues on behalf of the City of Anacortes and to raise $1 million for Multiple Sclerosis.

“Their donation of this motor home has made my dream possible,” Magno said. “Words cannot adequately express my gratitude to Freedom Roads and Foley RV for making this happen.”

Founded by Carlo Magno, The Spirit of Hope Foundation devotes its resources to education and advocacy for Multiple Sclerosis and to accessibility and quality of life issues for the disabled. The foundation is committed to helping individuals affected by Multiple Sclerosis to maintain independence, physical health, and emotional well-being through resource networking.
