The Wine School of Philadelphia is announcing a major expansion of its educational mandate into the hospitality industry.

The School has contracted Michael Alleruzzo of DDS Hospitality Consulting to spearhead several projects, including the growth of restaurant & retail training programs, and the development of a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive resource for wine education and information. DDS Hospitality Consulting will also be responsible for developing partnerships with hospitality providers, including restaurants, retail beverage operators, and educational institutions.

Keith Wallace, director of The Wine School of Philadelphia, brought DDS Hospitality Consulting, specifically Alleruzzo, on board to complement the already talented team at the school. “Michael brings a combination of formal business education, hospitality experience, teaching skill, and a dedication to the wine industry that we just couldn’t pass up. We look forward to the growth he will help us achieve.”

Alleruzzo is 15 year veteran of the beverage industry in three key fields: academics, consulting, and management. Alleruzzo is a certified Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers and a Master of Management in Hospitality degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.

He has presented seminars on wine and beverage management at annual conventions for the National Restaurant Association and American Hotel & Lodging Association, and his opinion on wine has been published in Nation’s Restaurant News and other national periodicals.

The Wine School is one of the leading wine education firms in the United States. Its students range from winery owners to sommeliers. It has been featured nationally in numerous periodicals, including BusinessWeek and Bon Appetit.
