Prospect, KY (July 9, 2016) — The Lomenta Foundation, based in Louisville, KY, will launch a new art and leadership project for single parents in the metro Louisville area at the Family Scholar House-Parkland location this summer. "The Women's Civic Leadership Project by Lomenta: Finding Your Own Voice in Your Community," will focus on a world café approach on Tuesday nights beginning August 16th 2016 at the Parkland Scholar House Café. Visit Crowdrise today to donate to this worthy project: http://bit.ly/22xJN41

Up to 40 single parents and their children (ages one to five years) will participate in art and transformational discussions with area civic leaders, around leadership and personal development. This will cover leadership roles in: (a) being a leader first for yourself; (b) the outer circles of immediate family; (c) extended family, (d) your communities of interest, and (e) your civic city responsibilities as a citizen. This may include magic, photography, finger-painting, and other craft projects each week. The purpose of these community presentations, and art exercises will be to show that leadership is defined by many characteristics, including stress management, organization, and developing passions with a purpose. The speakers will address setting goals and reaching out to communicate to others. Communication styles will be examined to transform environments and empower others toward community action.

We will have six very different leaders from the Louisville community speak and work with these single parents in the café night experience. Some of the confirmed presenters include: Executive Director Haleh Karimi, Interfaith Pathways to Peace; Laughter Yoga Coach Melanie Rudolph; Licensed HeartMath Provider and Wellness Coach Kimberly May; Sadiqa Reynolds, CEO of Louisville's Urban League, and Chief of Performance Technology Theresa Reno-Weber, Office of the Mayor. Several other civic leaders will discuss transforming key neighborhoods in our inner city, like the Parkland district.
