About the Author:
After completing studies at R.I.S.D. Elaine Backus began adult life as an interior designer. Ten years, four children, and one divorce later, she went to the University of Rhode Island to obtain teaching credentials. While there she was lured into the field of gerontology, ultimately becoming an Adjunct Professor at ten colleges and universities.

In retirement, Backus moved to a homestead in Vermont where she continued her life-long interest in organic farming, resumed her art interests, and began writing more. Now in advanced age, she continues writing from her home along the Connecticut coast. More details of her life may be found in Who's Who of American Women.
