9/11 Charity Seeks Proposals For Exhibit Locations

August 1, 2016 - With the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks drawing near, the Remembrance Rescue Project is looking for proposals to host the traveling exhibit. The Remembrance Rescue Project took on the responsibility to preserve and restore two of the surviving rescue trucks from 9/11 and currently facilities educational events throughout the country. There are two identical traveling exhibits that include one of the surviving rescue trucks from 9/11 in addition to a series of artifacts recovered at Ground Zero and child-oriented materials.

The Project is a 100% volunteer organization with firefighters from across the country donating their time. Currently, fire departments from across the country serve as host agencies to facilitate local educational events about 9/11 with the Project. The Project has been on the road for the last five years and is looking to transition the current traveling format into 2-3 long term exhibits per year.

"We want to allow visitors within a region the opportunity to plan a trip to come see, touch and learn from these artifacts," said Project Coordinator, Jeremy Painkin.

The Project's current operations put a heavy wear and tear on the surviving rescue trucks in addition to the logistical requirements that go along with a large mobile exhibit. The Project is looking for ideas and proposals from interested organizations across the country wishing to bring these artifacts and the exhibit to their community.
