In his most recent taped message, Osama bin Laden warned the American people of future attacks, and made a book recommendation. Another book, which he did not mention, was the first post-9/11 novel about Al-Qaeda, "King of Bombs," by Sheldon Filger. Featuring Osama bin Laden's face on the book's cover, superimposed on a scene of urban devastation, "King of Bombs" is a chilling thriller about the next 9/11 attack on America, involving nuclear weapons.

Though Osama bin Laden did not make mention of the recently published "King of Bombs" in his message, his warninig of a future 9/11 echoes the theme of Mr. Filger's book. The author, who lived through the attack on the World Trade Center by Al-Qaeda while living in New York City, wrote the terrorism novel as a warning of the potential for Al-Qaeda to obtain nuclear weapons. Asked about the meaning of the elusive Al-Qaeda leader's most recent threat, Mr. Filger said, "I don't believe it is an indication of weakness. On the contrary, Osama bin Laden has given clear warning that he intends to once again inflict great harm on the American people. His offer of a truce is merely a demonstration that he offered the 'infidel' a chance to repent, so that any future atrocity conducted by Al-Qaeda will have religious justification."

"King of Bombs" is not only the first novel about Al-Qaeda and nuclear terrorism published since the September 11, 2001 attacks. As the vivid image of Osama bin Laden on the front cover illustrates, it delves into the motivations of the men who are the fanatic followers of Al-Qaeda's leader. Asked what he thought Osama bin Laden's reaction would be if he were to read "King of Bombs," Mr. Filger said, "I am certain he would say, 'this is exactly what I intend to do to America.'"
