Dr. Caro Launches New Web Site

The St. George Corrective Vision Center in Chicago has launched a new multi-media web site. The address is www.st-george-vision.com.

The new web site features a streaming video of the center’s medical director, Dr. Nicholas Caro welcoming patients. Animation is used to explain the Lasik procedure to prospective patients. There is also a video of staff and online feedback from patients.

“We created the new web site to give patients the chance to meet me as well as my staff before they schedule an evaluation. We want them to feel comfortable at our center and the video is an excellent way to introduce the center and the staff,” explained Dr. Caro.

The St. George Corrective Vision Center was one of the Midwest’s first centers specializing in refractive eye surgery. Since its opening in 1991, Dr. Caro has performed more than 25,000 procedures.

When the center first opened RK was the only corrective eye procedure performed. RK was the most effective on patients who were mildly nearsighted. But as technology expanded the treatment options, Dr. Caro researched these options for his patients. He realized early that LASIK was the preferred procedure, especially for patients who were not candidates for RK.

Dr. Caro trained in the LASIK procedure and traveled abroad teaching LASIK to physicians in China and Germany. When the FDA approved clinical test sites for LASIK, the St. George Corrective Vision Center was one of the first in the Chicago area. Dr. Caro also has invented several instruments that are commonly used in LASIK.
