Musicians From The U.S. & Europe Unite To Honor Leon Russell With A Free Song Download

November 19, 2016 - A website, LongLiveLeon.com, is offering a free download of a song written to honor the life and career of Rock n' Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell. It features musicians from the United States and Europe. The project began after Leon Russell had a heart attack in July of this year.

The songwriter, Jeff Rindt, was at Leon Russell's former recording compound at Grand Lake in Oklahoma at the time. It was a famous 70's haven for rock icons like Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Bob Dylan on any given weekend. The current owners, Dr. Rick and Mary Huskey, both lifetime Leon fans, have kept it exactly as it was, with the church pew stairs and massive dining table made from wood taken from the remodel of Russell's Church Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Though it lacks the recording equipment, it's still one of the finest recording rooms anywhere in the United States.

Rindt wrote three songs that weekend and subsequently recorded "Long Live Leon" to say thanks to Leon and support his recovery and return to the stage. They were doing the final mix and mastering when Leon unexpectedly passed away on November 13. Jeff re-wrote the lyrics and re-recorded the song that day. It's being released to the world as a free gift to honor the memory of their friend, the legendary Leon Russell. If you'd like a copy of this moving song it's yours absolutely free. About the Songwriter: Jeff Rindt has been a life-long musician and is the songwriter for "Long Live Leon". He was a regular singer-songwriter at the Bluebird Café in Nashville in the '90s and ranked as one of the top 10 unsigned acts in Nashville in 1993. In '94 he placed 2nd in the National Finals of the Coca-Cola / True Value Country Showdown hosted by Kenny Rogers. When he had a shot to study his Doctorate in Psychology he took it. He's now a Licensed Psychotherapist with a busy practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but he still actively pursues music as his passion. He just finished a new recording studio in Tulsa where "Long Live Leon" was recorded as the first project. Jeff is the song-writer, lead singer and guitar and bass player for his band, Roundhouse Jeff & The United.

"The United" is a loosely formed group of creative friends who record original music. In order of their recording contribution to "Long Live Leon" they are: The incredible Brian Duncan in San Antonio and Nashville (keyboard), Dimitris Dimopolous in London (organ) and from Tulsa it's Dr. Rick Huskey (Drums), Barrett Lewis (lead guitar), Sharita Bent and Dana Schuler Drummond (background vocals).
