Increasing Interest in the Sport of Squash in Kentucky and Across the U.S.

Squash is a sport that is growing in popularity across the United States. In fact, according to U.S. Squash, since 2009, individual adult box league matches have increased by 185% while team league matches have increased by 63% during this same period. Junior squash has experienced even more explosive growth with an impressive 400% increase since 2007.

Louisville has also experienced an increasing interest in the game and area tournaments including the Fall Classic help to engage existing players and attract new ones to the game. Jeff Watts-Roy, a co-owner of Honeywick and Secretary of the Kentucky Squash Racquets Association (KSRA) explains why his company enjoys sponsoring a squash tournament: "Squash is a wonderful game. Not only do I enjoy playing regularly, but I've met some of my closest friends through the sport. And both my daughters love playing squash too. Sponsoring the Fall Classic Squash Tournament is just one way that we can help to promote a game that we love in a city that we love."
