TakeLessons Launches First Online Classroom

March 22, 2017 - TakeLessons, the largest online marketplace for private lessons, has launched a new online education technology named TakeLessons Classroom to improve online learning and mirror in person instruction. This is the first commercially available online classroom on the market that was built specifically for the lifelong learning educator.

TakeLessons Classroom uses audio, video, instant messaging, shared screen applications, and recording functions to create an engaging and effective learning experience. The interactive capabilities simulates the same level of engagement as in person instruction while the recording functionality allows students to revisit key concepts after the lesson has ended.

Promoting social learning, the platform encourages peer interaction and collaboration through video and messaging features. Students can talk with each other before and during the class, share ideas, help each other, and give encouragement. This peer-to-peer support helps students learn quicker and stay motivated.

In addition to fast video and audio rendering, TakeLessons Classroom provides increased security for both instructors and students. All classes held through TakeLessons Classroom are accessible all around the world via desktop computer, laptop, or mobile device.

For instructors, Classroom helps organize homework and lesson notes by providing a single location to upload files. The homework and lesson notes are automatically stored in the student's user account for easy access.

TakeLessons CEO Steven Cox shares why they created this technology. "Most online video platforms like Skype were built to replace phone calls, not to teach interactive lessons. We took a different approach. Until now, online instructors didn't have a technology that was custom-built for them. We built Classroom to be "education first," which means it focuses on solving the learning needs of our instructors and students. TakeLessons Classroom allows students to receive engaging and interactive class quality similar to in person instruction with the convenience and resources of online instruction."

Cox continues, "Let's say I was taking singing lessons. First, by using Classroom, I can access the best live instructor online, not just the one that happened to be near me. Second, each lesson's video and audio is automatically recorded and stored in my account. Now, I can go back and watch the lesson during the week, brush up on what we studied, and accelerate my learning path. Imagine the benefits. The student gets the best of both worlds – the right instructor and a digital archive of their learning. We believe that by using technology, we can make learning easier, more fun, and more rewarding for both the student and teacher."
