About the Author:
Sandy Malcolm lives with her husband Dennis in Ames, the smallest incorporated village in the state of New York. She is a retired early childhood professor emeritus from the State University of NY at Cobleskill. Prior to moving to New York, she was a professor at Indiana University of PA (IUP) in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and a former Preschool director/teacher at Nursery Nook, her privately owned Preschool. Her undergraduate and master's degrees were received from IUP in Elementary Education. Her Ph.D from Penn State University is in Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood, with a literacy focus.

Malcolm and her husband have three children and four grandchildren. They enjoy traveling, especially to visit their children, hiking, camping, canoeing, gardening, reading, and all things nature related. She enjoys crocheting, especially making tiny hats for premature babies.
