What’s for Lunch? Website Helps Locate Lunch Buddies Nearby

Pasadena, CA (PRLEAP) February 3, 2006 — With the increasing demands of balancing work and personal life, the importance of lunch is becoming apparent. A new website, www.lunchspark.com, reduces the stress from the two demands, by helping individuals network and date during their lunch.

In the past, lunch would be considered by many to be the least important meal of the day. Breakfast is the first meal that gets you started in the day, while dinner is the last meal that is used to replenish your energies for tomorrow. Some people skip lunch completely or gobble it up in a few minutes. They eat alone or in the company of strangers in a corporate break room.

What has changed? The Internet has made it easier for individuals to get out there and find people with common interest. Online networking and dating helps narrow the emotional distance. People who meet online tend to open up faster and reveal more early on.

“Lunch is the most important meal of the day, you need that midday meal to reenergize you for the rest of the work day,” said Charles Tran. “Eating lunch alone will set the mood for you and affect your productivity.”

“Because of different work schedules and distances, it wasn’t practical for my friends and me to get together for lunch often,” said Tran. He brainstormed and created lunchSpark (www.lunchspark.com) to alleviate that problem.

The idea: create a website where he and his friends can find other nearby people who are available for lunch. Like Sushi? Search for Sushi near 90210 and find matching people with like interest and a list of popular restaurants.

He told a few of his friends, and soon word spread. Users from across the country have signed up; apparently lunch crosses all boundaries and differences.

“The site is very straightforward. It was simple and easy from the moment I signed on. I work two jobs and I don’t have time for the bar scene. lunchSpark has made my life easier,” said Anthony To, Whittier, CA.

“I didn’t expect lunchSpark to catch on,” Tran said. “I made it for a few of my friends to play with – I’m still shocked.”
