June 21, 2017 - General Motors has announced plans to build a 1.2 million square foot two-building supplier park to support the GM assembly plant in Arlington, Texas.

GM announced the Arlington Automotive Logistics Center with a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new facilities on June 16, 2017. In attendance were dignitaries including United States Senator Ted Cruz, Texas State Senator Kelly Hancock, Texas State Representative Chris Turner, Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley.

"GM has been in Arlington for more than 63 years and more than 10 million cars, trucks and SUVs have been built at the Arlington Assembly facility," Steve Kiefer, GM Senior Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "Today, 4,225 employees at Arlington Assembly produce about 1,245 vehicles each day.

"In 2018 we will open an all new Automotive Logistics Center supplier park to support the Arlington Assembly Plant," said Mr. Kiefer. "The new buildings will house up to 1,250 employees, including 850 new jobs in Arlington. These are in addition to the 7,000 new jobs and $1 billion in investment GM announced earlier this year."

"We're here to celebrate new economic development and new investment," said Senator Ted Cruz. "We're here because General Motors and its partners are investing in a 1.2 million SF new facility here in Arlington that's going to produce 850 new jobs here in Arlington. New high-paying jobs coming to Texas. Of those 850 new jobs, 600 of them are jobs that are coming back to America from overseas. It's an exciting day in the state of Texas."

The new facilities will house state of the art manufacturing and warehousing technologies to support the just-in-time production and delivery of vehicle interior cabins for the assembly of Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade vehicles.

Bob Moore Construction was selected to be the general contractor for the new Arlington Automotive Logistics Center.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Bob Moore Construction," said Ed McGuire, President of Bob Moore Construction. "General Motors is an iconic American company that is recognized around the world. It has a corporate / community partnership with Arlington that goes back to 1954. It's exciting to be part of major project that will enhance that partnership for generations to come."

"We're looking forward to building our relationship with NorthPoint Development as well," said Mr. McGuire. "NorthPoint Development has already delivered five successful industrial projects for General Motors, and we look forward to leveraging their experience for our successful completion of the Arlington Automotive Logistics Center.

"By this time next year we will have played a big role in growing the city of Arlington and strengthening a great company like General Motors," added Mr. McGuire. "I think this will prove to be an important moment in the history of Bob Moore Construction."
