Hundreds of Los Angeles area brides will find the gown of their dreams while making wishes come true for terminal breast cancer patients and their families. Making Memories, a foundation dedicated to helping terminally ill breast cancer patients, has received over 2,000 wedding gowns for this event, including several hundred new dresses recently donated
by a national bridal manufacturer. Last year’s sale in Northridge netted $26,000 for breast cancer patients. This year’s goal is to reach the $50,000 mark.

Saturday & Sunday, March 4 – 5
The Marina Del Rey Hotel

This event will be held in the largest ballroom at the waterfront Marina Del Rey Hotel, located at 13534 Bali Way, Marina Del Rey. Doors will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

With thousands of dresses arranged on racks by size, the ballroom will host hundreds of brides from the Greater Los Angeles area. "There is truly a gown for everyone in this collection," commented LA Chairperson, Suzanne Hornwood Appel. "With over 40 racks of dresses from size 2 to 26, women can find their dream dresses for weddings in formal ballrooms or on the beach."

The Making Memories Mission
The human toll of breast cancer can be staggering. Small children are left without their mothers. Husbands are left to raise families on their own. In many cases patients also face an enormous financial strain. This means that families cannot afford special
moments together that might lift spirits and ease the turmoil of “saying goodbye.” Our wish-granting service helps put the realities of this terminal illness aside, if just for a few days, while providing the opportunity for a family to spend quality time together.

Making Memories was co-founded in 1998 by the mother/daughter team of Fran Hansen and Anna Nelson. Their story has received national coverage from Oprah, MSNBC, Redbook, Martha Stewart Living, Newsweek, Woman’s Day, and Shape magazine. They were named 2005 Trendsetters of the Year by Modern Bride Magazine and they were honored as “Women Who Make a Difference” in a recent issue of Family Circle.
