Thousand Oaks, CA: California-based ITN, Inc. has, through its holding company, sold three new Chem-Dry franchises in Shenzhen (the 2nd in that city), Changchun, and Changsha in January. The total number of Chem-Dry franchises in China has now risen to 15. The growing demand for Chem-Dry franchises is an indication of Chem-Dry’s reputation in China, as well as a sign of changing times. With the state no longer providing a guarantee of jobs and housing, people are seeking viable and proven business models to help them become self-sufficient.

“Chem-Dry’s increasing brand recognition will have a snowball effect on its growth,” said Riaz Peter, General Manager of Chem-Dry China. “With the advent of the Beijing Olympics the services provided by Chem-Dry franchises will be in great demand.” A Singapore native fluent in Mandarin, Riaz Peter lives in Shanghai with his family.

“While China is a tough market, the promise is enormous,” said S. R. Nair, President of ITN. “Enforcing contracts and protecting Intellectual Property in China is still a challenge but we are in China for the long haul. I believe Chem-Dry’s vision of leveraging the aspirations of Chinese entrepreneurs will have a positive impact on China’s social fabric.”

Developed in the United States, the Chem-Dry brand has become a dominant force in the carpet cleaning industry with over 3,800 franchises in 50 countries. Chem-Dry’s success is built on its proprietary Hot Carbonation® cleaning system combined with equipment manufactured in the United States for exclusive use of Chem-Dry® franchises. Chem-Dry China imports proprietary chemicals from the US on an on-going basis.

Chem-Dry® is a Logan, UT based brand that is the world's leader for carpet and upholstery cleaning services, cleaning an estimated one billion square feet of carpet each year. In January 2006, Chem-Dry was acquired by Home Depot’s At-Home Services Division. At-Home Services is one of the fastest growing businesses of The Home Depot.
