UK Hypnotherapist hopes to trance-form face of the Internet

A Hypnotherapist from the UK is selling "pixel profiles” on his Million People Page website. Rob Woodgate, 34, says that the aim is to create a unique single page snapshot of the world's Internet users and how they are connected to each other.

Each pixel on the homepage represents a person, and the pixel is coloured according to the country the person is from. The homepage is broken down into 10,000 blocks of 100 pixels (each block is 10x10 pixels), which can be selected to "zoom in" and reveal photos of the 100 people within that block. People can then be individually clicked to reveal their full profile.

It is often said that every person in the world is only 6 handshakes away from everyone else, so the ability for people to link to the profile of the person who referred them should offer an interesting insight into how people on the Internet are connected with each other.

People are ranked according to how many times their profile is viewed, so the composition of the homepage changes daily. With over 6.5 billion (6,500,000,000) people in the world, over 1.1 billion of whom are online, the Million People Page will represent up to 1 in 6,500 people in the world and 1 in 1,000 internet users.

Perhaps the Million People Page will prove once and for all that its a small world after all.
