According to The Higher Education Statistics Agency, each year around 2.3 million students in the UK enroll in higher education, with last year having seen one of the largest increases in this figure. Yet whilst many students choose to advance their education, few anticipate the dramatic impact it will have on their lives and how the options they are faced with will affect their future careers. However, the recent launch of the free website, Student Union (www.studentunion.co.uk) aims to help students make the right choices at this important stage of their lives.

Based by their own experiences as students, the four web designers who created Student Union have focused on applying the benefits of the Internet to student needs and making the information as user-friendly as possible.

“The educational years are supposed to be the best of your life, but it’s not always an easy ride and at the start you sometimes need a bit of help to guide you,” explains Paul Gunter, one of the founders of Student Union. “Whether it’s information on how best to tackle your university assignments to general advice on managing your bills or improving your social life, Student Union is there to help. ”

With over 20 years of commercial experience between them in the IT industry, the founders of Student Union have spent countless hours brainstorming and networking to make sure that the website provides students with the information they are looking for.

“The Internet is a tremendously powerful tool, but it has to be used in the right way,” comments Paul Gunter. “Sadly, a lot of websites supposedly aimed at students look like they were created by people whose university days are a distant memory. We can identify with what it’s like to be a student in the modern world and we also understand how the Internet is evolving. Furthermore, we believe that student feedback is vital to the development of Student Union and our users’ opinions continue to play a big part in the development of the site.”
