Windsor Healthcare has announced renovations are underway at two of their skilled nursing facilities in Essex County, NJ! Canterbury Care and Rehabilitation, in Cedar Grove, and Gardens Care and Rehabilitation (formerly Windsor Garden Care Center) in East Orange, have begun revitalization projects which will provide the centers with facility upgrades.

"We are equally committed to the quality of care and outcomes we provide for our patients as we are to the quality of our facilities," Chris Metternich, the organizations Chief Operating Officer said. The centers will continue to provide care and support for their patients during the projects, but guests will notice the efforts being made around them.

Canterbury Care and Rehabilitation's $1.3 million dollar face-lift will begin with a first floor renovation which will include a completely reconfigured entrance that will open up to a welcoming lobby and common areas, as well as a fully renovated 1500-square foot rehabilitation gym. Once completed, the organization will seek to bring the renovations to the third floor, which would include new flooring, ceiling tiles, furniture, fixtures and equipment.

Canterbury Care and Rehabilitation is known for their high acuity cardiac capabilities as well as for their behavioral unit, Legacy Villa, which functions as a short and long term care unit for geriatrics experiencing dementia and behavioral disturbances.

Gardens Care and Rehabilitation's project began last month when their main entrance and lobby underwent upgrades including a new guest relations area, new flooring, furniture and fixtures, as well as a refreshed fenced in outdoor area complete with gazebo and outdoor sound system where residents enjoy entertainment. "The 50-year-old building, which saw it's last physical plant project in 2011, was in need of additional renovations beyond the lobby, so we temporarily closed down 26 beds in our sub-acute unit to completely remodel," Michael Jacobs, Senior Vice President explained. The new sub-acute unit will open before the end of the year and will have a combination of private rooms, junior suites and hospice suites complete with sleeping arrangements for families.

"Between the newly revitalized sub-acute rehabilitation unit, and our existing ventilation wing, we will be able to continue providing quality care to complex patients in an atmosphere they deserve to help them thrive," Chief Nursing Officer Afrika Parks said.

A family-owned organization, Windsor Healthcare provides clinically sophisticated post-acute care and rehabilitation, as well as comprehensive nursing care, in nine facilities throughout New Jersey. They take pride in adopting progressive thinking in healthcare models and partnering with the most well-regarded medical providers in the state. With leadership experience, well-trained staff, meticulous attention to detail, and a history of operational excellence, it is no surprise that their facilities are consistently rated among the best in New Jersey.
