MoloLamken LLP Announces New Partner, Welcomes Returning U.S. Supreme Court Clerk and Distinguished Federal Prosecutor

(New York, March 1, 2019) – The national litigation boutique MoloLamken LLP is pleased to announce several enhancements to its award-winning team.

Eric R. Nitz has been named partner in the firm. Mr. Nitz's practice focuses on white collar criminal defense and investigations, complex civil litigation, and appellate litigation. He has represented senior governmental and corporate officials in investigations by the Department of Justice, various inspectors general, and Congress. In his appellate practice, Mr. Nitz has argued before the D.C. and Federal Circuits, and has briefed appeals in the Supreme Court of the United States and numerous courts of appeals. Prior to joining MoloLamken, Mr. Nitz served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joel M. Flaum of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, where he served on The Georgetown Law Journal and was elected to the Order of the Coif.

The firm is also pleased to announce that Lucas Walker, previously named a partner in the firm, has returned following his clerkship with Justice Neil M. Gorsuch of the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Walker previously clerked for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. He also served as a law clerk to Justice Gorsuch while he was a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He graduated from Harvard Law School where he served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy.

The firm also recently welcomed Caleb Hayes-Deats, a former Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York. He handled high-profile civil fraud, tax, and Bank Secrecy Act cases, and received the prestigious Department of Justice John Marshall Award. His wins included a $298 million jury verdict against Allied Home Mortgage and a $1.2 billion mortgage fraud settlement with Wells Fargo. Mr. Hayes-Deats served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert Katzmann, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and to the Honorable Jed Rakoff of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He graduated from Columbia Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Columbia Law Review.
