Rajan Sedalia nominated by Newsweek Who's Next 2006 Readers' Choice

While most designers stick to what they know, Rajan Sedalia is part inventor, part designer, part cartoonist that belies his artistic versatility and broad reach in the design world. A Newsweek Who's Next 2006 Readers' Choice Nominations, Sedalia is a design consultant transcending the standards of industrial design, art and comics.

Born in Indiana, raised in Ohio, half Indian, half American (Slovenian), Rajan considers himself more of a chameleon of culture, rather than a designer. His projects range from products, inventions, fashion, furniture, art and comics. His latest work was recently featured during a PBS interview, with other projects featured on FOX and WB. He began his illustrious career drawing soon as he could wrap his fingers around an oversized crayon. After graduating with a bachelor of science in industrial design from Ohio State University, Sedalia refined his skills at the Columbus School of Art and Design, both in Columbus, Ohio and at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Soon after graduation, Rajan worked at Compaq (now HP) for nearly three years before opening his own studio in 2000. Over a few years Rajan’s client list has come to include the National Football League, Hyatt Hotels, BMW, Hewlett-Packard, Igloo, Revlon, Dynegy, Bob Marley Footwear, Johnson Controls, Surf Gods, Bentley Motors and others.He lectures frequently on design topics, while including a few cartoons for comic relief.

Rajan Sedalia’s personal designs have been recognized by Business Week Magazine, Parade Magazine, Popular Science Magazine, D&AD (British Design & Art Direction) annual; National Home Center News “Hot Product”; iF Excellence in Design Award (Industrie Forum Design Hannover); and PC Computing Magazine.
In addition, Sedalia’s comic strip “Cookie Jar” runs online in an ever evolving collection of publications as well as in select publications in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Houston and Austin.
