Daring to Dream
Based on a true story, author explores issues of transformation and redemption in action-adventure novel, The Thirteenth Time Zone.

San Diego police officer Owen “Blue” Drew is a man desperately in need of change. Assigned to an elite gang-fighting group, Drew increasingly finds himself under attack, both by the outside forces he fights daily, and the inner demons that threaten to destroy and corrupt his very soul.

Verging on emotional collapse, Drew takes a one-year leave of absence, agreeing to serve as a crew member on a private boat sailing the Pacific. He quickly learns to adapt to the ways of the sea, setting aside his old anxieties in hopes of discovering new paths towards inner peace. His travels, which expand to five years, take him to Mexico, Central America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and lead him on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment.

The Thirteenth Time Zone is loosely based on the true story of author David Jebb, himself a former police officer. Seeking a lifestyle change, Jebb quit his job in the 1970s and embarked on a five-year sojourn to 33 countries. In India, he walked with a Hindu holy man for four months. He visited Northern Ireland during the time Belfast was under siege by terrorists. He was in Iran just before the king was deposed. All of these experiences laid the foundation for The Thirteenth Time Zone, giving the novel an authenticity and heart not commonly found in literature today.
