Palm Beach Imperials Announce New Director of Business Development and Community Relations

(PRLEAP.COM) West Palm Beach, FL - Today the Palm Beach Imperials (www.palmbeachimperials.com) of the American Basketball Association (ABA) (www.abalive.com) announced the appointment of Lamont Carr as the new Director of Business Development and Community Relations.

Carr’s responsibilities in his new position will be creating business and sponsorship relations for the basketball team, as well as reaching out towards underprivileged and non-profit groups that can benefit from basketball.

“As a long standing member of the Boca Raton and Palm Beach County Community, I’m thrilled to be able to bring together three of my favorite loves: community, youth, and basketball,” stated Carr.

Carr, a former power forward for the University of Virginia’s 1976 ACC Tournament Championship basketball team, was employed as head basketball coach at Donna Klein Jewish Academy in Boca Raton, Florida where he raised the boy’s team from flops to ferocious, even winning their local high school basketball championship.

His story of overcoming obstacles on and off the court was the focus of a Disney Channel Original Movie, "Full Court Miracle".

“The Palm Beach County Community as well as the surrounding communities of Ft. Pierce, St. Lucie, and Stuart have been begging for a professional basketball team that we can call our own. The Palm Beach Imperials are our hometown team,” expressed Carr.

Dan Mangru, the Palm Beach Imperials Team President also commented on the appointment.

“Lamont Carr brings tremendous value to our team. He is truly an inspiration on and off the court. His basketball knowledge will lend itself to our team and his personal character will help us establish the team in the community. I look forward to all of the good things that Lamont will do for the community and the Palm Beach Imperials.”
