One frequently sees performance cars or sports celebrities teaming up with a jeweller or watchmaker. And as many times as you see it happen, you may ask yourself just what the two have in common. That is not the case with the IWC - Mercedes AMG partnership. If ever there were two like-minded companies - these are the two.

Think of quality craftsmanship, think of ingenuity, think of first class engineering, think of durability – think of Mercedes AMG & IWC.

Each and every aspect of this marriage is a perfect match! Due to their sincere concern for and the unerring support of their employees both companies have stood the test of time and the challenge of technology. IWC and AMG have a passion for engineering, technology, innovation, tradition, passion, precision, perfection, design, time and speed.

It goes without saying that their customers too are of the same ilk: patient, faithful and willing to wait for a good result. The association was announced in October 2004, and the fruits of the venture came out as early as 2005; two watches in the classic Ingenieur range, finished with ultra-light, elegant, titanium cases with discreet, bright red elements on the dials that are reminiscent of the instruments on the dashboard of a sports car.

Fifty years after the Ingenieur made its first appearance, IWC is introducing the latest generation of watches bearing the famous Ingenieur thunderbolt. And still, the name Ingenieur stands for technical progress, resistance against magnetic fields and shocks, high functionality and a new generation of calibres.

“You can expect a blend of power, elegance, technology, speed and functionality, and the two Ingenieur models are undoubtedly just a taste of the good things that are to come from this partnership,” observed Gianfranco D’Attis, IWC Brand Manager.

An American engineer from Boston named Florentine Ariosto Jones, established IWC in 1868. The company was one of the first watch manufacturers to recognize the potential of the new and increasingly fashionable wristwatch.

The special position of IWC is rooted not only in history, but also in geography. It remains the only watch factory in East Switzerland to this day. The IWC factory on the Rhine is situated far from the watch making centres of West Switzerland.

Leading impulses for the mechanical watch come from IWC. With its 390 employees, the company manufactures these sought-after pieces. Since the year 2000 IWC has belonged to the watch division of Richemont SA.
