March 01, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Feb. 15 — Jackson Hewitt Tax Service(R) (NYSE: JTX), the nation's second largest tax preparation service and official sponsor of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) tour, could give away the largest prize in PBA history to one bowler in "The Jackson Hewitt $1,000,000 Challenge." To qualify for the $1 million grand prize, the same bowler must win all three of the remaining Denny's PBA Tour majors for the season. The kick-off tour event, the 63rd U.S. Open, runs February 12-19 in North Brunswick, N.J., at Brunswick Zone Carolier. The winner of the final, which takes place on Sunday, February 19, will be in the running for the $1 million jackpot and will look to conquer the Denny's World Championship in March and the Dexter Tournament of Champions in April.
"Jackson Hewitt is looking forward to awarding one of the PBA's talented athletes the largest bowling purse in history," said Michael Lister, President and Chief Executive Officer, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. "Serving as the 'Official Tax Preparation Service of the PBA' since 2002, we are thrilled to bring this level of excitement to the tour in this first-ever million dollar challenge and to cheer on the professional bowlers as the high stakes competition heats up this spring."
The 63rd U.S. Open, February 12-19, in North Brunswick, N.J., at Brunswick Zone Carolier, is open to all PBA members and amateur bowlers. The event features 27 qualifying games, round robin match play and a four-bowler stepladder finals format. In addition to earning the $100,000 event prize, the tournament winner on February 19 will go on to test his or her skill at the next major event, moving one step closer to the $1 million bonus.
The excitement continues at the 2006 Denny's World Championship, March 20- 26 at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind. If the same bowler wins the March tournament, only one more tournament stands between him or her and the Jackson Hewitt bonus.
That final event takes place at the 2006 Dexter Tournament of Champions, April 5-8, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The best professionals in bowling, including previous Denny's PBA Tour title winners, PBA Regional Tour and Senior Tour event winners will compete for the championship. If the winner of the previous two events captures the tournament title on April 8, he or she will win the Jackson Hewitt $1 Million Challenge, instantly becoming a millionaire.
