Circuit Cellar Launches Atmel AVR Design Contest

Circuit Cellar, The Magazine for Computer Applications, is pleased to announce the launch of the Atmel AVR Design Contest 2006. The contest, which is co-sponsored by Atmel and Circuit Cellar, will enable thousands of design engineers and electronic enthusiasts around the world to discover the unique features found in Atmel’s AVR family of microcontrollers.

Design contest participants must use one or more of the 14 eligible Atmel AVR microcontrollers as the core processor in their projects. The judges will look at a variety of factors when determining winners, including technical merit, originality, usefulness, cost-effectiveness, and design optimization. The deadline for submitting complete entries is July 19, 2006.

In addition to the $15,000 in cash prizes that will be awarded to the design contest winners, Circuit Cellar will publish the most notable entries. These entries will include complete project descriptions, schematics, and source code—everything needed to reveal the true merit of the designs.

To encourage awareness of Atmel’s AVR product line and facilitate entry into the contest, a limited quantity of AVR microcontroller samples is being made available to contest participants who qualify.
