Travel and Transitions Explores Winterlude

March 06, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Susanne Pacher, Publisher of Travel and Transitions, recently visited Ottawa to explore Canada’s capital during Winterlude, Ottawa’s famous winter festival. During her visit she had an opportunity to explore the Lord Elgin Hotel, one of Ottawa’s most historic hotels. The Second World War increased demand for hotel accommodation in the nation’s capital and necessitated the construction of a large new hotel. The Lord Elgin was completed in 1941 at a cost of C$1,500,000 and then Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King had a surprising influence on some of the design details on this hotel. More information about this Ottawa landmark can be found at http://www.travelandtransitions.com/stories_photos/ottawa_lord_elgin.htm.
