South Shore Elder Services to hold series of FREE Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage seminars in March and April

DATELINE: BRAINTREE, MA… South Shore Elder Services of Braintree, providing seniors and caregivers throughout the South Shore area with valuable resources and services, will conduct a series of public information seminars on Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage at their Braintree office. The seminars are open to all who have an interest in the subject and are always FREE of charge.

The seminars will provide an overview of the changes to Medicare as well as a detailed analysis of how the Prescription Drug Plans work. The seminars will also educate people about the state run Prescription Advantage Program, the Commonwealth’s pharmacy assistance program administered by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Prescription Advantage “wraps around” or supplements the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit for Medicare eligible individuals by helping pay for co-payments and coverage gaps for an individual’s Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. (Prescription Advantage will conduct an Open Enrollment from March 15 through April 28.) South Shore Elder will discuss the eligibility criteria for this plan as well as provide applications as soon as they are available.

Additionally, South Shore Elder will provide individual guidance to participants who need assistance selecting the right plan for themselves or for other family member.

The Medicare seminars will be held at South Shore Elder Services offices located at 159 Bay State Drive in Braintree on:

• Wednesday, March 15th from 3 to 5 p.m.
• Thursday, March 23rd from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 29th from 3 to 5 p.m.
• Thursday, April 6th from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 12th from 3 to 5 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 19th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 25th from 3 to 5 p.m.
