The Fashion Police make arrests at the Oscars

(PRLEAP.COM) And the award for best dress goes to…. Michelle Williams. Or so say The Fashion Police, anyway, and they should know: as the Internet’s fashion experts, they’ve already had to make one or two arrests at this week’s Academy Award ceremony.

"We were very disappointed by the selection of dresses on show at the Oscars this year," said a spokeswoman for The Fashion Police, the website dedicated to style and celebrities. "There was a lot of boring black, a lot of bridal white, and, in general, a lot of very uninspiring outfits.

"Michelle Williams’ bright yellow dress was the one stand-out fashion statement in a sea of black, and that’s why we’ve decided to award Michelle the award for Best Dress. She looked great with her red lipstick and classic Hollywood hair-do, too!"

As for the rest of the celebs, the Fashion Police remain unimpressed. "The Worst dressed award definitely has to go to Charlize Theron, in a dress that looked more like it was wearing her than the other way around," added the spokeswoman. "The huge bow and stiff fabric was not a good look, and not even someone as stunning as Charlize could pull it off."

The Fashion Police, whose site can be found at http://www.thefashionpolice.net, had the following comments to make about Sunday night’s other style statements:

Reese Witherspoon: Clearly aiming for the "princess" look, but this dress was too old for Reese, who ended up more "frumpy" than "fairytale"

Maggie Gyllenhal: Another disappointment from a star whose quirky style is normally absolutely spot-on. Maggie has a great figure, but unfortunately we just weren’t seeing it in this sack of a dress.

Naomi Watts/ Nicole Kidman: Both Naomi and best friend Nicole went for the pale and interesting look, and neither quite pulled it off. This pair could have been heading for the church rather than the Academy Awards.
