January 2006 – Naples, FL – Borrowing the idea from Alex Tew’s Million Dollar Home Page, Kane and Blake Pree have started www.thepixelkids.com. Blake is 7 years old and Kane is 9. They started the website as a homeschool project because their neighborhood would not allow a Kool-Aid stand. The website was completed on 1/15/06.

Prices are 25 cents per pixel. If the two boys sell all of the pixels, they will earn $250,000. The site will be kept online for at least 5 years.

The boys hope to earn some extra spending money and save for their college education. They are very excited about the new business. They also look forward to contributing to their blog each day.

The boys’ responsibilities for operating the new business will include writing the blog each day, responding to emails, and approving orders. Most of the business is automated using a PHP and MySQL script installed by their father.

The enterprising boys’ previous business activities include a dog walking business, a car washing business and a DVD rental business. The boys were tired of the typical kid business and wanted a real business of their own. They have had their own computers since they were two years old. They started installing their own software when they were 4. Using the computer for education is a big part of their daily homeschool routine.
