How Gordon Ramsay's scuffle on US TV show need not have cost the producers $125,000

A top Irish chef has highlighted the recent controversy in which Gordon Ramsay's notorious temper cost the producers of his new American show $125,000 as unnecessary and avoidable.

Chef John Flynn has worked with the greatest in the finest kitchens of Europe and he knows what the pressures of the cooking kitchen are.

"I too was an original 'chef from hell'", says John.

"I have seen the casualties and the conflicts, the ruined lives and the personal heartache of those who could only cope by becoming victims to drink, drugs, sex or gambling."

"Just like Gordon Ramsey, I too was foul mouthed, a control freak, dictatorial and most of all afraid," he admits.

It is this underlying fear that displays of uncontrolled anger mask, according to John.

And it was this realisation that finally led him out of the kitchen and into Coaching.

According to John, chefs are uniquely placed to observe people at their most basic - whatever the veneer of wealth, influence or power. They know more about life than most people - because
they are intimately involved in the most basic of human needs - the hunger for food.

And today John is helping with a more basic hunger - the hunger for self-knowledge.

He admits that he was lucky to have survived the trauma to be able to now teach others how to avoid the pitfalls of the 'chef personality'.

"Today I have emerged from the white hot heat of the kitchen - and from the nightmare of drink, drugs and gambling to chart a way forward for the future as a chef coach - a life coach for
chefs and indeed for all those who dine - so that they may benefit from my experience and recognise the warning signs that work against them"

Take note Gordon Ramsey!
