A group of young technologically adept users gathered together to help Internet surfers utilize the newest tool offering from the Search Engine giant Google. On January 30, 2006 Google released its latest version of its ubiquitous Internet Explorer add-on. The Google toolbar for Internet explorer has been downloaded by millions and is rated the #1 extension to Internet Explorer. However even as the Google Toolbar has eased the ability of surfers to perform Internet searches, its usefulness was limited to searches on Google's own Search Engine.
Searchers who wanted to initiate searches on sites dedicated to specific niches were forced to actually visit the site.

In their latest Toolbar offering, Google added the ability to add custom buttons to individuals' toolbars with the ability to search any specified site on the Internet. This addition will effectively change the browsing habits of Internet surfers worldwide.

However a major drawback limited the effectiveness of this new offering to the end user. Searchers are required to actually go through the process of creating the buttons for their toolbars.

Along came the GButtons Group lead by Roi Hildesheimer, and decided to host a site dedicated to providing hundreds of one click downloadable buttons for Google Toolbar users worldwide. By actually creating the buttons for users to easily add to their toolbars, and indexing the buttons into readily identifiable categories, users can go to www.GButtons.com and find their button in seconds.

Roi explains the catalyst behind the project as follows, "After experiencing the ease of searching specific sites with this new Toolbar, I was struck with how it is such a powerful tool. However, I questioned how I can make it even easier for people to accessorize their own Toolbars. After consulting with some webmaster colleagues, we decided to band together in this project that will allow users to own the Internet. Our group is comprised of people who share the philosophy that the Internet belongs to the people, and this is one way for us to return the Internet to the everyday surfer"

GButtons mission is to allow every user to find the buttons for their specific needs & more importantly provides a robust platform for users to host & upload their own buttons to share with others. Sharing is the catalyst driving the Internet forward (ala Flicker for pictures & Blogger for sharing anecdotes), GButtons is the sharing portal for Google Customized Buttons.
