Fort Worth, Texas -– Allied Electronics, a subsidiary of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), will break ground on its new headquarters and distribution center in east Fort Worth on Thursday, March 30.

The Fort Worth-based electronics distributor will begin construction on a new 365,000-square-foot facility that will replace the company’s existing rented space less than half a mile away. Allied’s headquarters and distribution center currently houses 275 employees. The new facility will help accommodate the company’s growth, as it expects to create an additional 300 jobs over the next several years.

“The growth we’ve experienced over the past few years and our plans for the future has led us to the need for a new facility,” said Lee Davidson, president of Allied Electronics. “The new facility will help keep us at the forefront of the industry.”

Allied expects its new facility, which will be located at 7101 S. Jack Newell Blvd., to be completed as early as summer 2007. The Haskell Company, America's leading integrated design-build firm, will handle the design and construction of the project.

Allied Electronics is a leading catalog component distributor and currently has over 600 employees throughout its corporate headquarters, distribution center and 56 sales branches throughout the United States and in Canada.
