The Dalbey Wealth Institute Makes Donation to Launch New Children’s Center and School in Sri Lanka

(PRLEAP.COM) Westminster, Colo. – The Dalbey Wealth Institute, which provides educational services and access to capital for home-based entrepreneurs, has made a donation to the Real Medicine Foundation to assist in the start-up of a children’s school and center. The Real Medicine Foundation is a non-profit organization that was formed in response to the tsunami disaster that devastated Southeast Asia in December 2004.

“This generous donation from the Dalbey Wealth Institute will have an immediate impact on the children of this devastated city,” said Dr. Martina Fuchs, founder and executive director of the Real Medicine Foundation. “This is truly a chance to help the children of a city start anew.”

Real Medicine worked with GTZ, a German organization that provides solutions for social development, to negotiate the donation of land and a building to renovate for a school and children’s center. The Dalbey donation will fund essential renovations and will also provide funds to begin staffing the center and providing much-needed assistance to the children in the area.

The town plays a vital, commercial role for the small communities in the area and is home to many central public markets. Tragically, the tsunami hit during a busy market day, when one or both parents of most families were out shopping. As a result, many families lost both mothers and fathers, and countless children have been in temporary and crowded quarters ever since, cared for by humanitarian organizations.

“The Dalbey Wealth Institute’s primary goal is to help people live better lives,” said Russ Dalbey, founder and CEO of The Dalbey Wealth Institute. “When we learned of this opportunity to help so many people whose lives were literally shattered in an instant, we immediately agreed. Real Medicine Foundation is doing incredible work all over the world – including in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina here in the U.S. – and we are very proud to support this outstanding organization.”

The renovation will provide living arrangements for 20 to 25 children and will be equipped with three toilets, a kitchen, a living area, water and power. These children will be provided with beds with mattresses, sheets, pillows, and mosquito nets, cupboards, tables, chairs, ceiling fans and table lamps. The school and center will provide a number of children with a workable learning environment including food, school supplies and toys.

In addition to creating a much-needed day care center and school, this project will also provide many jobs for the region, which is still slowly recovering from the devastation caused by the tsunami.
