Speedpitching luncheon making entrepreneurial waves in Southern California

FundingSocal.com, a member of the FundingUniverse.com family of Web sites, announced Impeltronics as the winner of its first speedpitching luncheon event.
Over 35 angel investors gathered at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel in Costa Mesa to listen to ten of the area’s top entrepreneurs pitch their deals in the fast-paced, speed-dating style.
A broad range of industries were represented at the luncheon. Pitching companies spanned the technology, marketing, transportation, medical device, software design, and household consumer products markets.
“The entrepreneurial quality in the Orange County area is very impressive,” said FundingUniverse.com CEO Brock Blake. “There’s a lot of opportunity for viable dealflow, and this luncheon was a great catalyst for that.”
The winner of the luncheon was determined by the angel investors’ individual ratings. Impeltronics came in first, and Connilly Enterprises and 2GeeksinaLab Inc. tied for second.
Impeltronics is a fabricationless company involved in the designing, engineering, marketing, and selling of miniature power generators for handheld electronics. The power generators convert into electricity the physical motions that these devices experience during their typical use.
“Impeltronics gave an impressive pitch on a product with massive potential,” said Blake. “They have existing relationships with potential partners and marketers, and a killer management team.”
Connilly Enterprises has developed a device—installable in every vehicle—that helps prevent runaway/rollaway vehicles. 2GeeksinaLab Inc. is a research and development company specializing in computer and video game technologies.
“Our first SoCal luncheon was a big success,” said Blake. “We plan on hosting at least one a year in this area from here on out.”
Southern California’s event was so successful that FundingUniverse.com is slated to host a FundingNorCal.com speedpitching luncheon on April 20th. Entrepreneurs, investors, and sponsors can sign up on FundingNorCal.com.
