www.Hackwriters.com just published a chapter thirteen extract from "Kingdom of the Hollow, The Story of the Hatfields and McCoys" by Phillip E. Hardy. The excerpt describes the hanging of Ellison "Cottontop" Mounts for the murders of Calvin and Alifair McCoy during a raid gone badly on their family home on New Year's Day 1888. Out of the many participants that took part in this attack, Mounts, who was considered simple-minded was the only man executed by the State of Kentucky. He was hanged in front of an estimated crowd of several thousand people on February 18, 1890.
